About us. Our 9 year history

GoToGarden started in 2017 out of personal frustration. Our founder was a hobby grower who spent hours navigating online shops that felt built by people who had never touched a plant — cluttered layouts, vague product descriptions, no real guidance on what to actually buy or why. He knew there had to be a better way.

What challenges do plant support solutions address?

Supporting plants is crucial to prevent structural damage, improve light exposure, and facilitate optimal growth across all stages, from seedling to harvest. Without adequate support, stems can break under the weight of foliage and fruit, or plants may develop weak structures. Products in this collection address issues like stem weakness and uncontrolled growth, ensuring plants remain upright and healthy, particularly in coco, soil, and rockwool mediums. The use of support structures can also enhance airflow, a critical factor often requiring specific solutions for plants in vegetative and flowering stages.

Explore the range of plant support and training tools

Our collection offers a comprehensive range of solutions for plant cultivation. For basic stability, choose from bamboo support sticks in various lengths, available in packs of 25 or individually, such as the bamboo support stick, 120 cm. For more dynamic training, utilize plastic halfmoon devices for bending plants, with options like the 37mm plastic halfmoons in a pack of 100. Securing stems is made easy with soft binding wire in 50m rolls and soft PVC binding wire. For larger setups, consider support nets like the Marnet net 1.8x5m with 18x18cm mesh, or the expansive support net 1.2x500m with 12x12cm mesh. Other essential items include simple clips for plant training, plant support clips, and Garland clips. Explore related categories like pruning shears for plant maintenance.

Brand differentiators in plant support

For growers seeking reliable support solutions, brands like Lighthouse offer specific product lines such as the Lighthouse soft tie wire, noted for its PVC coating and suitability for preventing stem damage. Other brands focus on cost-effectiveness and bulk supply, like the bamboo sticks 90cm in packs of 25, ideal for large numbers of plants. Marnet provides large-format support nets, catering to larger cultivation areas with specific mesh sizes like 12x12cm.

Navigating your plant support choices

Growers using coco or soil mediums during the vegetative stage often begin with bamboo sticks for foundational support. For shaping and training, especially when aiming for specific canopy structures, growers can employ 27mm plastic halfmoons to gently bend branches. When managing larger plants with significant weight, utilizing support nets like the Marnet 1.2x5m is recommended to distribute the load. For delicate stem work or connecting plants to stakes, 50m soft binding wire offers flexibility and prevents damage. Lighthouse's PVC-coated binding wire is a robust option for long-term support needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the primary uses for bamboo sticks and binding wire in plant cultivation?

Bamboo sticks, such as the 90 cm or 120 cm variants, provide essential vertical support and stability for young and mature plants. Binding wires, including soft 50m rolls or 2.5mm x 10m PVC options, are used to gently secure plant stems to stakes or trellises without causing damage.

How do plant support nets help in different growing stages and media?

Support nets, like the Marnet 1.8x5m with 18x18cm mesh, reinforce plant structures both vertically and horizontally, aiding in managing foliage weight during the flowering stage. They are beneficial across various media including coco, soil, and rockwool, offering consistent support throughout vegetative and flowering periods.

When should growers consider using plant bending tools like halfmoons?

Growers should consider halfmoons, such as the 37mm or 27mm options, during the vegetative stage to train plants into desired shapes and improve light penetration. These tools assist in directing plant growth, which is crucial for maximizing yield and managing space, especially in controlled environments.

What distinguishes different types of binding wire available in this collection?

The collection features various binding wires, including soft ties like Lighthouse 8m soft ties designed to prevent stem damage, and more robust options like steel binding wire with PVC coating (1.8mm x 50m). There are also uncoated steel options like the 1.4mm x 50m for heavy-duty applications. The PVC coating on some wires adds weather resistance and a softer touch.
