Extended ePAR sensor for advanced plant research
The Apogee Instruments SQ-616 ePAR sensor measures an expanded photosynthetically active radiation range from 400 to 750 nm, designed for scientists and professional growers. This advanced sensor, released in 2021, captures ePAR beyond the traditional 400-700 nm range, reflecting new research on photosynthetic activity. It connects via USB to Windows or MacOS X computers for real-time point measurements, graphing, and PPFD data logging using the included software.
The SQ-616 also functions as a standalone ePAR datalogger when connected to standard 5V DC USB power. Its internal sensor memory can store 10,000 user-defined periodic measurements, downloadable as CSV files for analysis. With a spectral range of 400 to 750 nm ± 5 nm and a resolution of 0.1 µmol m⁻² s⁻¹, it provides detailed light spectrum data for optimal plant growth. The sensor features a robust anodized aluminum body with an acrylic diffuser and is IP68 rated, allowing submersion up to 30 meters, making it suitable for various environmental monitoring applications.
